It's been a great week so far. I've been feeling the spring itch, and it doesn't help now that we have super cute little chickies. We ordered a few from our local feed store and just got them this week. Six pretty Americaunas babies. This one here is my daughter's favorite. She squealed when she saw her. She has a few feathers and they are pretty white. She has named her smudge.
My neighbor managed to score an entire box of apples from the local grocery store. Apparently they give away boxes to anyone who asks for compost. The apples weren't "perfect" so they had them in the back, and unperfect apples are perfect for apple sauce. He gave me almost a half a bushel's worth, and he got a quart of apple sauce in return. Tomorrow I think I'll post my apple sauce recipe.
This week's school work is much more laid back then we usually are. I needed a break, so this week is a free style unschooling type of week. Letting the kids pick what they do school work on, and my daughter chooses art! We will likely paint almost every day this week. This picture is a picture of our dream trees.
What are you up to this week?

What a cutie Smudge is! If you have any extra applesauce left over, send it my way *yummy* The dream trees are beautiful!

Isn't she cute? We're so excited to have chicks again. :)
DeleteToo cute and you're right, the little one is just in time for Spring! Can't wait to see the apple sauce recipe, but am hoping it's possible to scale down...there is only two of us over here...and that looks like it makes quite a bit of sauce.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to scale down, I'm working on it now, should be up on Thursday. You will never buy applesauce from the store again. :)
DeleteOrange tree?
ReplyDeleteIt's my artsy fartsy way of drawing a autumnal tree with it's orange leaves. ;) My daughter's was much more creative...her's was a candy cane tree. :)
DeleteThe chicken oh so cute! Lucky you, to get those apples. Your daughter is definitely a budding artist. Thanks for hosting.

Isn't she cute? Happy Wednesday! :)
DeleteThe chickies are so cute! Mmm apple sauce looks delicious. Unfortunately our grocer does not allow any cast off produce or leavings to be given out for fear of lawsuits.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I'm shocked they do it but they're a "green" grocery store and they give them away for composting. Just so happens they were all still good, just ugly. :)
Deleteaww it looks so adorable! I'm a bit scared of adult chickens though!

I was at first too. Chickens are pretty easy going though, it's the roosters that sometimes can be a bit frightening.
